AKOYA SALTWATER PEARLS The two largest producers of akoya pearls are Japan and China. Overtone colors of saltwater pearls include white, cream, rose, silver, and green. Saltwater pearl sizes range from less than 5mm to 9.5mm. Larger saltwater Akoya pearls are possible, but less frequent. Saltwater pearls are more valuable than their freshwater cousins because of their beauty and supply.
